Chenonceau A lazy, hazy, happy lunch full of wine and laughter We talked and talked and talked some more Knowing what came after We waited ‘til the crowds had gone - off to have their tea And wandered over to the gate Neill, Harry, Liz and me A carefree stroll around the grounds, peaceful, tranquil, calm All bathed in sunlight, skies so blue We wandered arm in arm Then at last we climbed the steps, to see the view again … And Neill produced like magic A bottle of champagne! We toasted Liz and Harry and the passing of the year We washed away the agonies And wiped away a tear We raised our glasses high - and swore an end to pain We laughed and laughed and laughed some more And vowed we’d come again!
